Airline re-regulation?

This is a post by Mark Evanier that links to a speech from a former airline official who has some suggestions to improve the airlines. Anything that would make airline travel easier would be greatly appreciated.

Airlines are a not an economic necessity. Other than safety issues, airlines should be completely unregulated and fully market based. This means ticket prices should rise and fall based on supply and demand.
Passenger trains and inter-community bus service should be expanded.

Comment Two

The former airline official is a typical managerial executive who takes no responsibility for how he and others made airline travel the way it is, out of profit motive.
He blames workers both union and nonunion, present management, and wants to restrict freedom of choice in the industry. Restricting freedom and blaming employeees (non corporate level management and workers) is how many so-called business leaders pass responsibility from themselves to others. Reducing freedom is no way to run a business or lead in a political economy.
