I ran across a hardbound copy of Batman, "The Killing Joke" at the public library, in the new book section.

At least it was in the adult section of the library.

Batman is a legendary and much interpreted literary figure.

The Batman and Joker of this particular comic do not belong on children's cereal boxes.

I remember reading this as one of your collected comics and could gain no sympathy for the story or its characters, no matter the artistic or literary quality.

I remember after reading it that the character of the Joker should be retired. Enough with the homicidal nihlism. People are evil because they want something, usually power or possessions. There is no solid reason for the Joker's actions in the story.

Thedore Sturgeon ... good author.
