Today isn't Dec. 7, but ...

Here is a YouTube video that plays some of the audio of President Roosevelt's Pearl harbor speech. I just thought you'd like to hear it.

I think I'll start finding and linking to some great speeches.

I think I am going to see Batman tomorrow. It is an overhyped film.
The Bat is everywhere.

What has this to do with FDR?

The Scarecrow, while on horseback, says FDR's famous line "There is nothing to fear, but fear itself" in Batman Begins, the first in the present Batman series.

Also, it is the League of Shadows that trained Batman and that he struggles against in the film. The Shadow came over the radio, as did the Pearl harbor speech. Only the Shadow knows.

I saw the Batman film today. A great film.
It alluded to a lot, including Lon Chaney and the films he took part in.
Silent film star Lon Chaney made himself up into many characters, including clowns, the Phantom of the Opera, and the Hunchback.
He did it all with a small bag of makeup and tricks.
This film alludes to many Chaney and other earlier movies.
There are a lot of other things in the film, symbolism and storytelling.
If the movie has a flaw, its the action scenes, edited at to fast a pace.
While the last two Batman films are better than all but the first Batman (Tim Burton's)
This may end up being the best of the overhyped summer blockbusters.
